The Village of Webster's Tenth Anniversary of 9/11
Memorial Service was held on
Sunday, September 11th at 2:00 pm
In the Gazebo at the Veterans Memorial Park
The Service began with
Jack Jacob Jarosinski on bagpipes leading
Area Emergency Service Volunteers to the Gazebo where they surrounded
the park along with Emergency Vehicles & Apparatus.
Mayor Peter Elder then dedicated the stone for the new 9/11 Memorial Garden located in the southwest corner of the park. The stone features engravings of the Twin Towers, the Pentagon, and a sprig of an Eastern Hemlock which is the State Tree of Pennsylvania. In the spring, forget-me-nots will be planted to honor all who were lost on that tragic day.
The Service also included performances by the Chorus of the Genesee, Directed by Jason Weitz, 9/11 Flag of Honor presented to WFD by Boyscout Troop 463,
Rev. Michael Ware & Rev. Duke Hamlin,
NEJFD Past Chief, Rob Sabin, Supervisor Ron Nesbitt,
Senator Michael Nozzolio & Assemblyman Mark Johns,
County Executive Maggie Brooks,
and Lydia Champagne & Mike Walker playing “Taps”.
This gathering gives all of us the opportunity to continue the healing process and pay tribute to the thousands of fire fighters, policemen, EMT's, and airline personnel, and private citizens who were killed in the line of duty.
It also reminds us to think of our loved ones every day and not to take things for granted, while coming together as a community.
